Scope:
Advanced Meteorology covers all topics in the applicable module of IMO Model Course 7.01, Master and Chief Mate. Additionally, this will satisfy the Seafarers Training and Certification of Watchkeeping (STCW) Code as amended Section A-II/2 and U.S. Coast Guard regulations every candidate for certification as Master and Chief Mate of ships 500 gross tons or more shall be required to demonstrate the competence to undertake, at the management level, the tasks, duties, and responsibilities listed in column 1 of table A-II/2 in the STCW Code as amended.
A mariner who successfully completes our Advanced Meteorology course will satisfy the Advanced Meteorology training requirements of 46 CFR 11.305(a)(3)(iii) and 11.307(a)(3)(iii) for STCW endorsements as Master or Chief Mate on vessels of 3,000 GT or more and 46 CFR 11.311(a)(3)(iii) and 11.313(a)(3)(iii) for STCW endorsements as Master or Chief Mate or Master on vessels of more than 500 GT and less than 3,000 GT.
The following practical assessments performed during this course have been determined to be equivalent of National Assessment Guidelines TASK’s, as documented in: NVIC 10-14 Tasks For Master or Chief Mate on Vessels of 3,000 GT or More (Management Level) 7.1.A; 7.2.A; 7.3.A; 7.4.A; 7.4.B; 7.4.C
